Let the adventure begin

Retirement is something most of us dream about for years and as Mickey Jo and I have gotten older many of the people we have worked with for years have gone into retirement. Some have moved south, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida or as in my sister's case California.

Some are are snow birds. Like the birds that we see here in New York, they go south for the winter and return in the spring. Some have simply stayed here in NY to be with family and friends. We might even know one or two people who live on a boat or in an RV.

Mickey Jo and I have had this dream for the past several years about a different way to retire. In a nutshell, we want to live in 10 different cities over the course of the next ten years. Our desire to do this has stemmed from our work travels to conferences across the country.

We always get to a place like San Diego for 3, 4 or 5 days. Take in a few sites, attend sessions and workshop during most of the stay and leave. On the way out of town we always say, Hey we didn't do this or that. We need to come back and do these things.

And while travel to a place for a week or two might give us a better feel for a place we thought living there for six months or a year might be more interesting. We mean to really get a feel for a place--its food, its culture and its people.

So that's the basic plan. Which cities you ask? Well, we know some of them, but not all. The partial list includes: Seattle, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, a Canadian City (probably Montreal or Toronto), London, Rome, and Paris. Other cities or changes to the original list could happen. Heck, we are retired and anything can happen.
